Sunday was such a golf watching high for me that I couldn’t wait to get my bets in until Wednesday. Akshay has been my guy since he won the Barracuda so watching him win a big tournament was borderline emotional for me. I was able to get him at 8-1 live on Saturday but i’m on a mission to get my first pre tournament outright pick of the year this week.
Outfights
Since its only Monday theres a good chance I add more dudes but for now these are my guys.
Scottie Scheffler +500 (FD)

Betting Scottie is kind of like buying a blue chip stock. Right now his price is down but everyone knows its eventually going to go backup. I was able to get him at +500 which is just too good of a price for me to pass up. He’s been getting to some slow starts this year but he’s still Scottie Scheffler (2nd it strokes gained total, 5th SG off the tee, 1st in birdie AVG). With Rory having some health question marks i’m buying by far the best golfer in the field
Ludvig Aberg +2200 (FD)

A good price on Ludvig who is usually mid to high +1000s when hes in good form. Got off to a very slow and frustrating start to the year but he but looked damn good last week. His scrambling stats have been horrible this year (169th in scrambling %). However hes still carding circles sitting at 5th in birdie average for the year. I like the shot in the dark that he can limit the blow up holes at 22-1 and get back into the conversation of golfs most promising young guy.
Hideki Matsuyama +3000 (FD)

Im a simple guy, so the moment I hear a guy is really good on a certain course I almost always talk myself into him. Hideki tied the course record in 2020 in the final round played before everything got shut down. He has 7 top 25s in 11 starts at TPC Sawgrass and tied 6th in ’24 as well as a solo 5th in ’23. Hideki has been so bad off the tee this year (125th in SG) but has been incredible with his short game (1st in scrambling %, 5th SG around the green, 1st in sand save %) 30-1 feels like a good price on a guy who has a great track record on the course he just needs to find himself on the Tee.
Chris Gotterup +6000 (FD)

“Hell yeah” is the only thing that goes through my mind when I watch Gotterup play. He’s cooled off a little after winning 2 of his first 3 starts of the year but he’s still got some promising stats. 11th in scoring average, 10th in SG off the tee, 5th in driving distance. His driving accuracy is not ideal (145th) but thats mostly becuase hes just trying to pimp job the ball everytime. I feel like he’s not being priced appropriately as I truly believe hes firmly a top 15 golfer right now.
Top Ten bets
Chirs Gotterup +400 (kalshi) (bad line) (whoops)
see above
JJ Spaun +500 (bookie website)
Forced playoff here last year, minor buy low on the guy who set the golf world on fire last year
Tom Hoge +1566 (Kalshi)
putter been good, set a course record 62 at TPC Sawgrass
Andrew Novak +2500 (Kalshi)
Number felt a little too high, been in decent form. He’s better than this number suggests.
